Kid Dot Fame. Par. Jae Dollas. This is CheckFace, a young rap collective with members straight out of Queens, New York. These rappers are dope, witty, fresh, and bonded by love for beats, bud, “biads,” brotherhood.
CheckFace’s emergence in 2009 was a musical rebirth and a coming-of-age. Burnt out from its party-throwing days, the group used its creativity to record fifty songs in just three months, culminating in its first mixtape, “Welcome to CheckFace.” Friends and neighbors immediately supported the group’s distinct flow and sound. CheckFace, fueled by the energy of these first fans, later produced individual mixtapes. During this process, the rappers decided that they must stay true to their personalities. As a result, the motto “CheckFace” is also their collective name. It reminds Kid Dot Fame, Par and Jae Dollas to look into and “check” themselves throughout their endeavors.
Today, CheckFace continues to record together—using mostly its own mixing and mastering—while allowing its rappers the freedom to create individual projects.
